다섯 번재 게임에서 이기고 숙소로 돌아온 소수의 참가자들.
그런게 기쁨보다 역겨움이 앞서는 건 왜일까.
게임의 추악한 비밀을 폭로하리라 작정한 준호는 탈출을 감행한다.
✅ 준호 vs 프런트맨 – 형제의 충돌 Jun-ho vs The Front Man – Clash Between Brothers
섬에서 겨우 탈출한 준호는 바위 위에서 쫓아온 프런트맨과 마주친다.
프런트맨은 준호에게 "자료를 넘기고 투항하면 살려주겠다"고 제안하지만, 준호는 단호히 거절한다.
긴장감 속에서 프런트맨은 마스크를 벗고 자신이 형 '황인호'임을 밝힌다.
형이 게임의 중심 인물이라는 사실에 충격받은 준호는 결국 총에 맞고 절벽 아래 바다로 떨어진다.
프런트맨 역시 총상을 입고, 조용히 탄환을 꺼내며 과거를 곱씹는다.
After barely escaping from the island, Jun-ho encounters the Front Man atop a cliff.
The Front Man offers a deal: "Hand over the data and surrender, and I'll spare your life."
Jun-ho firmly refuses.
Tension builds as the Front Man removes his mask to reveal he is Jun-ho's older brother, Hwang In-ho.
Shocked that his own brother is part of the game's core, Jun-ho is eventually shot and falls into the sea.
Meanwhile, the Front Man removes a bullet from his own body and reflects on the past.
✅ 최후의 생존자 세 명 – 기훈, 상우, 새벽 The Final Three – Gi-hun, Sang-woo, and Sae-byeok
세 사람은 정장을 입고 최후의 만찬에 초대된다.
기훈과 상우는 허겁지겁 음식을 먹지만, 유리 파편으로 크게 다친 새벽은 거의 먹지 못한 채 고통에 시달린다.
식사 후, 테이블에는 각자 앞에 나이프 한 자루씩이 놓이고 모두 경계 태세로 돌입한다.
The remaining participants are dressed in formal wear and invited to a final dinner.
Gi-hun and Sang-woo devour the food, while Sae-byeok, severely wounded by glass shrapnel, barely eats due to the pain.
After the meal, a knife is placed in front of each person, signaling the onset of mutual suspicion and defense.
✅ 새벽과 기훈의 마지막 대화 Sae-byeok and Gi-hun’s Last Conversation
모두 잠든 새벽, 기훈은 그녀의 상태를 확인한다.
새벽은 자신이 끝까지 살아남을 수 없음을 예감하며, 기훈에게 “동생을 찾아 달라”는 마지막 부탁을 남긴다.
그 말을 들은 기훈은 진심으로 동맹을 제안하고 도움을 요청하러 문 밖으로 나간다.
While the others sleep, Gi-hun checks on Sae-byeok’s condition.
She senses she won’t make it and asks Gi-hun to look after her younger brother.
Gi-hun sincerely proposes an alliance, and goes outside to seek medical help.
✅ 상우의 배신 – 또 한 번의 죽음 Sang-woo’s Betrayal – Another Death
기훈이 방을 비운 사이, 상우는 주저 없이 새벽을 찔러 살해한다.
돌아온 기훈은 피를 흘리며 쓰러진 새벽의 모습을 보고 절망하고, 상우에게 격렬하게 달려든다.
그러나 진행요원들에 의해 제지당하며 감정은 절규로 터져나온다.
While Gi-hun is gone, Sang-woo stabs and kills Sae-byeok without hesitation.
Returning to find Sae-byeok bleeding out, Gi-hun falls into despair and violently lashes out at Sang-woo,
only to be restrained by the masked guards, leaving him screaming in agony.
💭 8화 감상 및 느낀 점 / Episode 8 – Reflections and Themes
프런트맨이 형이라는 반전은 단순한 놀라움 그 이상이다.
정의를 추구하던 준호와, 구조를 유지하는 입장이 된 인호는 혈연을 넘어선 가치 충돌의 상징이다.
“왜 형이 이런 짓을 해?”라는 준호의 묵직한 질문은, 이 시리즈가 말하고자 하는 시스템과 인간성의 충돌을 함축한다.
새벽은 이 시리즈에서 보기 드문 정서적 캐릭터로, 마지막까지 인간적인 모습을 보여준다.
죽음을 감지한 순간에도 동생 걱정부터 하는 모습은 이기심으로 가득한 게임 속에서도 끝까지 사람으로 남은 상징이었다.
상우는 지식과 전략의 대명사였지만, 이번 화를 통해 도덕적 추락의 정점을 찍는다.
기훈은 마지막까지 사람을 살리고자 노력하지만, 반복된 배신 앞에서 분노와 무력감을 드러내며 캐릭터가 깊어진다.
나이프 배부, 의도된 상황 연출, 선택이 아닌 강요된 결말까지...
이 에피소드는 게임의 룰이 아니라, 의도된 감정과 충돌을 유도하는 극단적 사회실험임을 강조한다.
The revelation that the Front Man is Jun-ho’s brother goes beyond shock;

Jun-ho’s haunting question, “Why are you doing this, hyung?”, captures the central moral conflict of the series.

From the distribution of knives to staged scenarios, this episode emphasizes that the game
